Craig Ingersoll
Ideal Paint Solutions Founder & CEO
In the mid-90s, I began painting as an apprentice at a shop. I learned various skills such as repairing and preparing metal, mixing 3-part paints and epoxies, and using painting systems like HVLP (high-volume, low-pressure) and electrostatic sprayers. I gained experience painting residential and small commercial buildings, like churches, offices, and youth centers. I also volunteered with youth and people experiencing homelessness in the Jax Beach area during this time. Once I returned home to Jax Beach after attending school up north, I resumed my passion for painting. I joined Atlantic Beach Painting as a crew member and gained valuable experience working under my boss for several years. Subsequently, I transitioned to a property management role for a high-profile family, overseeing all their properties. Eventually, I moved on to become the personal painter for a builder. I had dreamt for a long time about traveling the world by sea. In the summer of 2006, my dream became a reality at the perfect time. Layoffs were happening everywhere as the construction industry felt the effects of the soon-to-be housing market crash. I spent the next 12 years working as a merchant mariner. The experience increased my skill level in painting by working with steel and fighting corrosion. After a few years of working in different departments, I applied myself to grow in my career path. I worked and studied for the next few years until obtaining my license as an officer. Unfortunately, I didn’t foresee the impending economic downturn when I decided to return to the Gulf of Mexico. I worked as a tanker man for the next two years before losing my job abruptly. Having a wife and newborn son, I went to work immediately doing what I knew best: painting. That was in the spring of 2018. Since then, I have done so much painting and grown even more. I have worked with and for some fantastic people. We have slowly expanded our company alongside individuals who share our vision and believe in the value we bring. Our team is genuinely passionate about what we do. When we first started, I recognized the need to apply my skills in commercial and industrial painting. While we began by focusing on residential projects like many other painting companies, we are grateful for the lessons learned. As we continue to grow, we remain dedicated to improving our abilities to serve our community better.
